In his first game, Puig went 2 for 4,  but it was his defense that also caught people’s attention.  He recorded an outfield assist to complete a double play. on the last play of the game.  In his second game as professional, he hit two home runs and drive in five runs.  In his fourth game, he hit his first career grand slam. Some might say it was beginner’s luck and it would wear off.  However, after 15 games he was tied with Joe DiMaggio and Terry Pendelton for second most hits in that time span with 27.  He seemed to be the perfect player with the body of a tight end, top speed, and an accurate arm.  His presence was felt in the Dodgers clubhouse who all seemed to elevate their level of play.

In his first month of play, he won the National League Player of the Month and the National League Rookie of the Month. Puig and the Dodger won the NL West, but failed to make it to the World Series.  He finished second in Rookie of the Year voting, behind Miami pitcher Jose Fernandez.  He finished the year hitting .305 with 19 home runs and 42 RBIs.   He has become one of the most recognizable names in sports and has been seen with Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Colin Kaepernick.  He switched agencies during the season, and is now a member of Jay Z’s RocNation sports agency.
