He is widely considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but nobody expected Peyton Manning to have a record breaking season at the age of 37 and after FOUR neck surgeries. The Denver quarterback was doubted by many that he would ever even play again after his fourth surgery. He returned last season as a member of the Broncos, but did not win a playoff game. This season, he seems determined to get his second Super Bowl title and has elevated everyone’s level of play.
Manning has 47 touchdowns on the season, three shy of Tom Brady’s single season record, he has 4,811 yards closing in on Drew Brees 5,476 yards record set back in 2011. He has two receivers, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, with over 1,000 receiving yards. He has played on two sprained ankles and led his team to victories. He is an easy MVP choice and one of the most exciting players to watch. He started the season against the Ravens, the team that knocked the Broncos out of the playoffs last season, and threw for seven touchdowns, tying and NFL record.
The Broncos are currently tied with the New England Patriots for the number one seed in the AFC with the Patriots holding the tie breaker. This is one of the best seasons any quarterback has ever had, but everyone is expecting Manning to lead his team to the promise land. However, it will be in the hands of a shaky Denver defense if that will actually happen. Whatever happens in the playoffs, Peyton Manning has put on a quarterback clinic for most of this season and we all got the privilege to watch.
