Winning streaks are always exciting, but what about when a team goes on a historic losing streak? It is still history, probably not what Philadelphia 76ers fans want to hear. The Sixers have had top draft picks the past few years, acquiring Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid, and Jahlil Okafor. While those three were extremely talented in college, it just has not translated into championships in Philadelphia. Maybe this team is cursed?
Embiid has yet to ever play a game in the NBA. The 7 footer underwent foot surgery six days before being drafted third overall in 2014. He missed the entire season, but was looking forward to making a comeback this season. Unfortunately,a CT scan revealed a setback that required him to undergo an additional surgery. It is still unclear if he will play this season.
The team drafted Jahlil Okafor out of Duke during this year’s draft. Okafor has done well on the court, averaging 17.9 points and 8 rebounds a game. Off the court, Okafor has gotten into some minor trouble including punching a fan in Boston. While his production has been great for a rookie, it is not going to win many games if no one else is producing.
The team started the season continuing where they left off last season, losing. Dating back to last season, team has lost 25 straight games. The team finally won a game on December 1st against the Los Angeles Lakers. Unfortunately, that winning streak did not last too long. After that win, the team is currently on a nine game losing streak. The team currently sits at 1-27 and looks to be back in line for another lottery pick. It is just is not easy being a Sixers fans.
