Just like everyone’s Starbucks order this fall, college football’s top teams are completely predictable.
Can you guess the Starbucks order?
Pumpkin Spiced Latte. That was too easy.
Now can you guess the top four teams?
Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and Wisconsin. Maybe that was a little harder, but these top four teams are completely expected and surprised literally no one. Heck, Alabama has been ranked #1 the last three seasons and won the national championship last year. It would have been a surprise had they NOT made the top spot.
Clemson is just as loaded as they were last year, Georgia lost a few key players but overall is still a powerhouse team. And let me remind you, both teams made it to the playoffs last year. Meanwhile, Wisconsin is probably just happy they beat out Ohio State to make the top four. Finally, I feel like they’ve waited their whole lives for this.
What’s the likelihood that any of these teams actually make it to the playoffs? If there’s anything I’ve learned from Bachelor in Paradise, it’s that nothing is predictable. Nothing.
Barring any injuries, Alabama is probably a lock. Like, cut off my right arm if they don’t make it, lock. (Okay, that might have been a little dramatic so please don’t hold me to that).
Clemson has a pretty weak schedule, as does Georgia. The only hitch with Georgia is it’s possible they might have to play Alabama in the SEC championship game which might throw them out of contention if they lose. All Clemson has to do is lose zero games during the season and win their conference title and they’re in. Easy peasy.
Wisconsin on the other hand has a more difficult season than both Clemson and Georgia. They play both Michigan and Penn State away this year, and they’re probably going to be out for revenge after losing the Big 10 conference and therefore, not making it into the playoffs.
At the end of the day all we want is some competitive and fair football this season… and for our team to win the national championship.
