The New York Jets had a lot of laughable moments last season. There was the buttfumble and the Tebow experiment, but one player who always came to work and played hard was Darrelle Revis. When he went down with a torn ACL, many Jets fans were sad, but knew their best defensive player would come back stronger. Well, he did come back, just not in Jets green.
Instead, Revis was traded from New York to Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers were projected to be one of the best defenses in the league with the addition of Revis. He was still not yet fully healthy, but the Bucs gave the Pro Bowl corner back a 6 year contract worth $96 million. A huge contract for a non quarterback player coming off a major injury. With the trade, Tampa Bay surrendered their first round draft pick.
In this year’s draft, the Jets drafter a corner back from Alabama, Dee Milliner, who they thought would be Revis’ replacement. Well, Milliner has struggled at times even being benched at Revis has had a rough time adjusting to life with head coach Greg Schiano. There were rumors that the two did not get along because of their differing playing philosophies. Revis likes to play man coverage, while Schiano, a college coach first, uses zone coverage. Both of these teams have struggles this season and it still has yet to be determined who the winner of this trade is.
