It was the saddest story in all of sports. A little boy was beaten to death, and his father, star running back Adrian Peterson. Peterson had only learned a few months prior that he was the biological father of the two year old boy before he met his untimely death. The mother of the child left the little boy with her boyfriend, Joseph Patterson, who allegedly beat the child until he was unconscious.
He called 9-1-1 claiming the child was not breathing, but police determined that the injuries were not accidental. The little boy passed away in the hospital hours later before Peterson ever got the opportunity to meet him. The man accused faces second-degree murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery charges. He is currently free on $750,000 bond and there is no court date known.
