If there is one Olympic sport the United States is likely to place in, its basketball. Coming off a gold medal winner in 2012, the 2014 team boasted the likes of Derrick Rose and Demarcus Cousins. The USA cruised to another gold medal win with pretty convincing wins over most of their competitors. Some of the team’s wins include a 114-55 win over Finland and a 129-92 win in the gold medal round over Serbia,
Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving was named MVP. Kevin Durant was originally a member of Team USA, but dropped out after seeing teammate Paul George break his leg during a scrimmage in training camp for Team USA. It was one of the most gruesome sports injuries in recent history. Many players tweeted out their support for George. His roster spot was replaced by Rudy Gay.
