This year was a good one for Chicago fans. The Cubs finally returned to the playoffs and more importantly the Blackhawks brought the Cup back. Chicago’s third title in just six years; a dynasty to be remembered. It took the Hawks just six games to defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Duncan Keith had a fantastic series, including scoring the game winning goal in game six earning him the Conn Smythe Trophy. Keith, who has been a part of all three of the Blackhawks three titles in the recent decade, scored 21 points and notched a league-leading 18 assists in the postseason. Lightning star Steve Stamkos struggled in the postseason; not scoring a goal for eight straight games.
It was a bumpy offseason for the Blackhawks. The players brought the Stanley Cup all over the country, including on stage at a Jimmy Buffett concert. On a more serious note, however, Patrick Kane was accused of sexual assault by a woman in Buffalo, NY where Kane has a home. No charges were ever filed in the investigation as the woman did not wish to proceed further due to the high profile nature of the case.
