Everyone expected to see these two teams matchup at some time this postseason, just maybe not this early on. However, the San Francisco 49ers play in one of the toughest divisions in the league and the Packers slumped when they lost quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The 49ers have become the hottest team right now, winning their last six games. Their offense got a big addition with top wide receiver Michael Crabtree getting healthy. The 49ers defense is always one of the best, but linebacker NaVorro Bowman is playing on another level right now.
Green Bay got their quarterback and one of his favorite targets back last week and the impact was felt immediately. Without Rodgers and Randall Cobb, the Packers could have very well missed the playoffs. The Packers are still without their best player on defense, Clay Matthews and that defense has struggled even with him in the lineup. When these two teams met in Week 1, it was a shootout with Colin Kaepernick out-dueling Aaron Rodgers in San Francisco. However, due to the frigid temperatures, this game will likely be about both team’s running game.
These are two teams who know how to win in the playoffs. Both of these quarterbacks have the ability to limit their mistakes and keep their teams in the game. Defense will be key in this game and the Packers defense will have to play their best game all season. 49ers vs. Packers- who you takin?
