It was possibly the most exciting game ever in college football history. The two time defending champions Alabama took on the Auburn Tigers who had completely turned their season around. The commentators could not believe what they had just witnessed. Did he really turn a missed field goal into a punt return for a touchdown to win the game? Yes, that really happened.
Auburn had been on a magical ride all season. They looked like a new team with the duel running threat of quarterback Nick Marshall and running back Tre Mason. They went into the Iron Bowl as underdogs to the Roll Tide powerhouse, but they fought hard and tested the superior mind of Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban. The game was tied at 28 when Alabama decided to go for a game-winning field from the 38-yard line. The kick was short and fell right into Auburn’s Chris Davis. With only offensive lineman and tight ends on the field, Alabama was unable to track down Davis and could only watch him run into the end zone for a game winning touchdown.
It was one of the most unbelievable moments in sports. Alabama was handed its first loss of the season and lost their chance at fighting for a third BCS Championship. Instead, with help from an Ohio State loss, Auburn is back into the National Championship against Jameis Winston and the FSU Seminoles.
