The New York Yankees are one step closer to getting a member of their infield back from the disabled list; just not the one they were hoping for. At one time, New York Yankees fans might have been excited by this news, but after all the drama not so much anymore. Rodriguez will play his first game since having hip surgery at Single-A Charleston. Once considered the greatest player in the world, Rodriguez has taken quite a tumble from the top. Rodriguez is more likely to be linked to PEDs and off the field antics than his on the field production. It will remain to be seen if A-Rod can still be productive as he turns 38 laster this month.
The Yankees may need an upgrade at third base, but it does not appear that they want anything to do with Rodriguez anymore. The organization has made it very clear it is looking for a way out of his contract in which he is still owed $100 million. They were hoping that a suspension would be handed down from the recent PED investigation. However, the investigation with Tony Bosch’s Biogenesis clinic has been slow moving and no suspensions have been handed down. Getting Rodriguez back is definitely a good ad bad thing for the Bronx Bombers. He is always a home run threat which is something the Yankees can really use after struggling to score more than three runs per game against division rival Baltimore. However, he also brings a media circus with him that will distract players and manager Joe Girardi. Rodriguez’s return will be highly scrutinized and any wrong move he makes will be noticed.
