The NFL season has officially begun! With Week 1 in the books, the Green Bay Packers have once again started their season with a solid win. Winning the border battling against Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings, 43-34.
In past years, the match-up between these two teams would consist of a sold-out stadium. Unfortunately with COVID-19 numbers still on the rise, both teams made the decision to not allow fans in the stands for the first two weeks of the season. Like myself and other fans watching the game from our TVs at home, many may have felt an eeriness when looking at an empty stadium and no fans.
However, this didn’t stop two-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers from showing out. Throwing for a total of 364 yards, four touchdowns, and 32 out of 44 completions. Rodgers and the Packers put up the most points for Week 1 in the entire NFL.
As for six-year Green Bay veteran Davante Adams, he connected with Rodgers 14 times for a total of 156 yards. Adams tied Don Hutson’s 1952 record for the most single-game receptions in franchise history. When asked if he knew that he was tied for the record,
“No I did not know, I had no clue. . . . Aaron actually told me on the sidelines right at the end of the game. . . . But yeah man it’s awesome, I’m just trying to do my part in the offense and if the records come with it it’s awesome, but if they don’t that’s great too.”

During his postgame press conference, Adams also brought up how Aaron and he discussed how they would come into Week 1 by attacking it and coming in fast. Stating, “the team goes as we go”, and that’s exactly how it went for the Packers.
Green Bay attacked early; putting a total of 22 points on the board before the half. This included an early sack by Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander resulting in a safety. With 25 seconds to go, again Alexander came up with a huge play with an interception to give the Packers one last chance to put some points on the board. Of course, if anyone can use that possession to its full potential, it’s Aaron Rogers. Throwing it 45 yards on 2nd & 10, Rodgers connects with wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a touchdown.
But with a win, also comes improvements. While the Packers put 43 points on the board, they also allowed a lot. With 34 points for the Vikings, the Green Bay Packers will be looking to bring that number down in Week 2 against Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions. All while keeping their momentum rolling.
Kickoff is set for 12:00PM CT at Lambeau Field on FOX.
