When Aaron Rodgers is brought up, words like “elite”, “champion” and “interceptions” come up. Well not that last one, but today has marked the first time in almost three years that Rodgers has thrown an interception in Green Bay. Regardless of that, the Packers still won the game against the St. Louis Rams, leaving the final score at 24-10 but the biggest news of the game was Aaron Rodgers being picked off twice. The first one must have been such a shock to Green Bay and their franchise especially Rodgers but then when there was a second one, it must have given that offense a heart attack.
Rodger’s first pass was picked off by Rams LB James Laurinaitis which was caught after the ball was tipped and ended up in the arms of Laurinaitis. The look on Rodgers’ face was that of confusion and disappointment, mostly with himself before he sulked back to the bench. The interception came during the first quarter with only 3:34 left and it looked like Rodgers was going to come back after, trying to make sure that he would not make that mistake again.
As if the first quarter wasn’t already a big disappointment for Rodgers, in the second quarter, he was picked off again. This time, it was Rams CB Trumaine Johnson who picked him off. Rodgers’ bad luck continued into the second half as well. During the third quarter, Rodgers fumbled the ball when he was sacked and it was recovered by the Rams. While this could have been bad, it looks like Rodgers was able to regroup and bring his team to a win. No matter what happens, though, that game with the Rams will always be the one remembered as Rodgers’ game of 2 interceptions and one lost fumble.
