Running back Adrian Peterson’s legal issues seem to be almost over as he has struck a plea deal with prosecutors. Peterson was charged with felony child abuse after pictures showed his four-year old son covered in cuts and bruises from his father beating him with a switch. Peterson agreed to plead no content to a lesser charge of misdemeanor reckless assault. He will avoid jail and instead will pay a $4,000 fine, be placed on probation, and have to perform 80 hours of community service, according to ProFootballTalk.com.
As far as his status in the NFL, that is still to be determined. The Vikings placed Peterson on the Commissioner’s Exempt List after receiving heavy backlash from the public. However, Peterson still received checks for each of the eight games he was sidelined. Goodell is the only one with the power to make Peterson eligible to play in the Vikings game against the Chicago Bears. Once reinstated the Vikings then can either play their star player or release him. However, it is likely the NFL or the Vikings will suspend the running back. This story is far from over…
