It is hard to believe that we are only two weeks away from the Super Bowl! This weekend’s match-ups are set to be instant classics. Another Brady-Manning duel with the AFC Championship Title on the line and two NFC West teams who despise each other fight for the NFC Championship.
AFC Championship Game: Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots
Another Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady game with the Super Bowl on the line. The New England Patriots are coming off a very convincing win against the Indianapolis Colts. A game in which the Patriots scores six touchdowns, none of which were thrown by Brady. Something, the Broncos should be very worrisome about, especially after losing their top cornerback last week, Chris Harris. Having the threat of a running attack to match the Brady’s ability to throw the ball, makes the Patriots a very good team despite all the injuries they suffered this season.
Statistically, the Broncos have the best offense in NFL history. However, their defense is horrible as seen in the regular season match up between these two teams. The Broncos got off to a hot start going into halftime leading 24-0, but by the end of the game, the score had become tied after a lackluster performance by Denver’s defense that Brady took advantage of. This time Denver has to stop the run game the Patriots have established this season and New England has to force the Broncos to run the ball.
NFC Championship: San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
These two teams have already met twice this season, each team winning their home game. This time the 49ers head back to Seattle where they have been demolished twice the past two seasons. San Francisco is the hottest team in the playoffs right now, winning eight straight games, including two road playoff games. Their confidence is very high and they will need it as the head into the loudest stadium in the country.
The Seattle offense besides Marshawn Lynch, has been in a slump the past few weeks. Last week, Lynch had 140 rushing yards and scored twice, slowing him down will be the 49ers top priority. Having outscored San Francisco is Seattle 73-16, has to be encouraging to the offense. The Seahawks also learned that receiver Percy Harvin will not play in tomorrow’s game after suffering a concussion during last week’s game. This should not be too much of a difference maker as Harvin only played in one regular season game and the Seahawks still had great success without him. The 49ers do have their best receiver Michael Crabtree back who missed most of the regular season and he has been playing lights out. His presence has really helped the 49ers offense this postseason.
