Good thing Aldon Smith is getting help because he just got hit with some pretty serious news. Stemming from the house party where he allegedly pulled a gun to fire warning shots and got stabbed, police have filed felony gun possession charges against the linebacker. Smith faces three counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon. When asked about Smith’s recovery, head coach Jim Harbaugh said that he heard “positive” things. He is currently facing one count of DUI after slamming his car into a tree at 7:00AM last month.
Smith is looking at four years and four months for the weapons charges, if convicted. He also awaits punishment from the NFL for all of these charges. Smith was also named in a lawsuit along with Titans’ player Delanie Walker who hosted the party. The man who filed the lawsuit claims that he was shot at their party. He last played week two, the Sunday after he was arrested. The 49ers were blown out by the Indianapolis Colts, 27-7. It is unclear if he will play again this season.
