If you kept up with the 2015 NHL All Star event that took place this past weekend in Columbus, Ohio, you definitely have to remember one of the funnier moments of the weekend that involved Washington Capitals captain, Alex Ovechkin.

On the first night, which was the NHL All Star draft, Ovechkin lobbied to be chosen last for either Team Toews or Team Foligno because he really, really, really wanted that free car they were giving out, which happened to be a brand new 2015 Honda. After patiently waiting round, after round, after round to see if he would be leaving Columbus with a new ride, his dreams were crushed when he was in fact, chosen a bit too soon to take the final spot.

Ovechkin, who played on Team Foligno for the weekend, was light hearted about the car all weekend, and though his hard lobbying for a new set of wheels was pretty funny, some Honda representatives were actually intrigued by it and contacted Ovechkins agent to find out why he wanted the car so bad! After touching base with his agent, and finding out that Ovechkin had nothing but good intentions for the car, the representatives at Honda decided that if he did not win MVP of the game, they would just give the car to him. It turned out to be a win-win situation for everybody.

Ovechkin finally got his car, but what he was going to do with it was what really touched the heart of the people at Honda and hockey fans alike. From the beginning, his plan was to donate the car to the Washington Ice Dogs hockey program and Ann Schaub, the young girl he took on a sushi date just a few months ago! He had her and the program in mind when wanting to win the car and it shows just how much of a thoughtful and genuine guy he really is.
