Congratulations are in order for Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen and his girlfriend Maria! The couple got engaged while McCutchen stopped by The Ellen Show. The reigning MVP talked about how proud he is of his Pirates team for finally making the playoffs after 20 long seasons of losing seasons. Ellen then asked McCutchen about love life to which he pointed out his girlfriend Maria sitting in the audience.

He then directs the audience to a video he shot and calls his girlfriend up to the stage. Just before he drops to one knee, he confesses, “I didn’t do it for the publicity, or the recognition, I did this to show the whole world how much I love you, I would do that.” Cue the tears and collective “Awwws” from the audience members. Of course she said yes to which Ellen presented her with red roses and special wedding hats for both the bride and groom. Congrats to Mr. McCutchen and the future Mrs. McCutchen!
