Last year after the New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl, Tom Brady’s wife Gisele Bundchen went on a rant. She complained about how awful the other players performed and it was all caught on camera. Her direct words were, “My husband cannot f*cking throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.” First of all, I am shocked to learn that Gisele actually watched the game and understood what was going on. Second of all, those are some pretty harsh words for guys who made it all the way to the Super Bowl and lost on a last second miracle play.
It seems that the wives getting involved is a pretty common thing for Patriots players as Wes Welker’s wife decided to sound off. This time, however, she took it out on the Baltimore Ravens who beat the Patriots to advance to the Super Bowl. Actually, it was just directed towards star defensive player Ray Lewis. After the game, Anna Welker posted this on her Facebook, “Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis’ Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!” Ouch. Those are some harsh words for a guy who you don’t actually know and did nothing personally to you.
Clearly, Anna came to her senses and she deleted the post and instead posted an apology. “I apologize to Ray Lewis and his family for my comments. In no way did I mean for them to be mean or hurtful. I’m embarrassed for being a sore loser. I wish Ray and the Ravens good luck. Lesson learned!” Lewis may have been involved in some bad things in 2000, but the turn around he has made is why he is a role model.
