This has been a devastating week in America with innocent lives being taken because of hate. Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old Baton Rouge resident, was selling CDs before he was forced on the ground and executed by two police officers. The incident, all captured on cell phone video has since gone viral. Almost 24 hours later, a 32-year old man named Philando Castile was killed during a traffic stop for a busted taillight. His girlfriend recorded the entire ordeal while her 4-year-old daughter watched Castile be murdered in the driver’s seat. As if those two innocent lives being taken too soon was not bad enough, last night five Dallas police officers were gunned down and murdered simply because they had on a police uniform.
Just like the rest of us, athletes took to social media to vent their frustration with the hatred that still plagues this country.
Waking up and reading the news every day is painful. Prayers for society. We need to be better, collectively. More life, less brutality!

Another black man killed
Another young black kid without a dad
Think about that for a second.

We cannot succeed in a world with this much hatred. This country is more divided than ever trying to point fingers while all that is happening is people being slaughtered. Children are being left without parents. This has to stop. I don’t have the answers as to how, but maybe we can start just by looking at each other as human beings, no different from one another. When tragedies like this happen, we all grieve. If we can all agree that there is a systemic problem in this country then we can work together to fight against it. RIP to all of the innocent lives taken because of hate.
