Semyon Varlamov, the starting goalie for the Colorado Avalanche, was arrested last night on multiple charges. Varlamov turned himself in yesterday and is being held without bail on the counts of second-degree kidnapping and a third degree assault charge. The kidnapping charge is a Class 4 felony which carries a sentence of two to six years in Colorado.
Varmalov spent the night in jail and is expected to appear before a judge this morning. His coach, Patrick Roy, had no comment on the situation. The Avs organization had the following statement, “The Colorado Avalanche organization is aware of the allegations concerning Semyon Varlamov. At this time, and until the conclusion of this investigation, the Avalanche organization will have no further comment on this situation.” Having Monday and Tuesday off, Varmalov was at practice Wednesday morning.
