As if he was not having a bad enough few months, things just got worse. Joe Paterno, the now infamous ex-head coach of PennState’s football team, is reportedly having complications from lung cancer treatment. Paterno was fired after the child molestation scandal involving former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. He reportedly violated PennState’s ethics code by failing to report the crime to the police after receiving knowledge on the incidents.
Shortly after, Paterno was diagnosed with lung cancer. Honestly, I cannot say I am shocked. This poor man’s whole life was football. It was his passion. His mistress in his marriage. I know he did wrong by not reporting the incident, however, I cannot help but feel awful for the Paterno family. I really do hope he gets better and can continue to live a happy and peaceful life.
