In lieu of all of the bad news coming from the NHL as of late, including the numerous injuries, penalties, and suspensions, one team has decided to step off of the ice and bring some happiness to some of their younger fans.
During their annual visit to the Boston Children’s Hospital on Monday, the Boston Bruins ditched their uniforms for something a little more….enchanted!
The players wore costumes from the movie “Frozen” and some of them even participated in singing “Let It Go,” which is a hit song from the animated Disney fairytale-like film. Defenseman Torey Krug, who was dressed up as adorable the snowman Olaf, took part in the song and says that “I’ve heard the song a lot of times, especially with my niece singing.” Matt Bartowski, a defenseman on the team, sang along dressed in a Sven the Reindeer costume. How cute!
Of course, they were not the only teammates who showed up in full formal attire. Defenseman Kevan Miller, who is currently out indefinitely with a separated shoulder, dressed as Kristoff. Seth Griffith who was recently recalled from the AHL and made an acrobatic move on the ice last night went as Hans. The adorable sister duo, Anna and Elsa, were also in attendance as well. Matt Fraser dressed as Anna and Dougie Hamilton as Anna’s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen.
The team was more than happy to sign autographs and give presents to the young patients. Krug says the team was “just here to put smiles on their faces,” and that the important thing is that the movie makes the kids happy.
