A year ago, Boston was rocked by a senseless act of terrorism. Three people lost their lives just for being at the Boston Marathon. The citizens of Boston experienced one of the darkest moments in America’s history, but a year later you would never know it. We saw people lose their lives and lose their limbs, but never lose their spirit. The city of Boston showed the world what it meant to overcome tragedy.
The people of Boston have taught all of us something about life. No matter how bad things may look, you can never give up. You must rise above the dark times. The bombing also showed us the good in people with strangers helping strangers regardless of their race, gender, or sexual orientation. Volunteers, police officers, and firefighters all showed us what true heroes look like.
The survivors still have physical scars to remind them of that horrible day, but they have not let that keep them down. Their anger has subsided and they have shown us to enjoy each and every day we are alive. Today we stand together as one nation united to never let a tragedy like this happen again. Today we are Boston Strong.
