The findings in the Wells’ report found that it was “probable” that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was aware of what happened before the AFC Championship game. The NFL handed down its punishment to the organization, fining them $1 million and the loss of a first round draft pick in 2016 and fourth round pick in 2017. However, it was the four game suspension given to Brady that was viewed as controversial.
The quarterback who denies any involvement in the tampering of game balls, immediately built a legal dream team to fight the suspension. Adam Schefter, one of the top NFL insiders, believes it is possible Brady won’t miss a single snap this season. He described the legal team as “unreal” and went on to say the Patriots organization feels as if they were treated unfairly.
He continued by saying, “I think they’re angry, that they don’t feel — they don’t feel, I know everyone feels differently — they don’t feel they did anything wrong. They don’t feel like they deflated footballs, they knowingly deflated footballs, they were treated fairly by the NFL. It sounds crazy to people on the outside who say, ‘You can’t break the rules of the game, you violated the integrity of the game.’ I’m just telling you, from their vantage point, they don’t believe they did anything wrong.”
It is hard to believe the NFL’s “Golden Boy” would miss one quarter of the season, but if this was another player would it be?
