With Tony Romo out, the Dallas Cowboys are unfortunately stuck with their backup group of goons, Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel and Kellen Moore. For now, Weeden has the starting job which is his to lose at any point and after losing the last two games where the team had first-half leads in both, it looks like Cassel could potentially step up.
Ever since Weeden was named the starter for an injured Romo, fans and haters alike on social media have not held back their disappointment in Weeden and most notably their disappointment with his performance on the field after Jerry Jones praised him so highly. While the praise was a little premature, Weeden doesn’t care about what Jerry says about him but decided to share his thoughts on those who use social media.
Weeden had a lot to say, including this gem, “I’m 32 years old. I don’t need a 12-year-old telling me how to play quarterback.” which is just ridiculous for Weeden to say. I highly doubt that they’re on Twitter, telling Brandon Weeden how to “play quarterback”, but instead it’s a lot of Cowboys fans and non-Cowboys fans alike, making sure that he knows just how displeased they are with him. Weeded had many critics during his time in Cleveland, he described the media in Dallas as a “different beast”.
Certainly, Weeden has a good point though because he doesn’t have to sit and look at all the tweets, giving him a performance review when he already has coaches and the rest of the staff there, trying to help him. It’s easy to see the other side, though, because sometimes fans want to share their displeasure with their backup QB. This break from social media is probably best for everyone as Weeden needs to spend more time worrying about playing better and fans need to worry about their own lives!
