He has been retired for less than a year, but Atlanta Braves great Chipper Jones is already getting his number retired. Â The third baseman spent his entire career in Atlanta and is considered one of the greatest to ever wear a Braves uniform. Â He won a National League MVP award in 1999, batting title in 2008, the World Series in 1995, and has been an All-Star eight times. Â The 40-year-old was known for his clutch hitting, especially against the New York Mets. Â Jones enjoyed playing in New York so much he named his son Shea after Shea Stadium. Â Chipper’s number will be the tenth number retired for the Braves. Â He joins some great names including Hank Aaron, 44, Tom Glavine, 47, and Bobby Cox, 6. Â His induction ceremony will be held on June 28th before a game with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
