It is the Manning Bowl Part 3! Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos invade little brother Eli’s home in New Jersey for a thrilling matchup. Can Eli finally beat his big brother? Not if they play anything like the Baltimore Ravens’ defense did last week. The Giants can not allow Peyton to sit in the pocket and wait for his receivers to get open. The front four will have to get pressure on him the whole game to keep him off balanced. If they cannot get pressure, it could be another record day for the Broncos and the Giants will start 0-2.
While Peyton’s performance gets most of the glory, little brother Eli had a great week despite the many mistakes the Giants made. If you can get past the three interceptions, Eli threw for four touchdowns and 450 yards against the Cowboys. The two brothers had over 800 yards combined! Many Giants fans were worried about Victor Cruz after suffering a bruised heel, but he looked sharper than ever with three touchdowns. The Giants also got their leader back in Brandon Jacobs who can hopefully make up for David Wilson’s inability to block. Wilson was another storyline for the Giants with his two fumbles and it will be interesting to see who coach Tom Coughlin gives the starting job to.
Despite Peyton’s record breaking week and his overall greatness on the field, I think little brother and company take him down. Eli is in his prime and can finally compete with his brother in a fair fight. The Giants pass rush started to put pressure on Tony Romo late in last week’s game and hopefully they can build on that. The Broncos will be without cornerback Champ Bailey for the second straight week which can allow Eli to look downfield for the long pass. It will be a thriller in New Jersey today! Broncos vs. Giants- who you takin?
