Even for the Browns, nobody saw this coming. After six tumultuous years, the Cleveland Browns announced that they would be releasing Josh Gordon. Immediately, everyone suspected that substance abuse was involved. Gordon has battled substance issues for many years in the past that led to multiple suspensions, however, NFL Insider Jason La Canfora that was not the issue. The team has been very supportive of Gordon as he battled his issues away from the field.
The issue is said to center around “trust”. The team is having a very difficult time trusting the talented wide receiver. It supposedly all started yesterday morning when Gordon arrived to practice with a hamstring injury that occurred at a promotional photo shoot. Gordon thanked the team for all of their support in a late night Instagram post. He also said the city of Cleveland will always feel like home.
The team said that the release will take place officially on Monday, giving the team time to find a trade partner. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport Gordon already had his eye on two landing spots if the team does decide to go that route.
As teams discuss potentially trading for outgoing #Browns WR Josh Gordon, I’m told he’s got his eye on two in particular: The #Cowboys and the #49ers.

Hopefully, a change of scenery is just what Gordon needs to return to his Pro Bowl form. We are rooting for Josh Gordon to be happy and healthy wherever he lands.
