The man who started 1,000 memes is not on an official NFL roster currently. IK Enemkpali, also known as the guy who punched Geno Smith, has been dropped by the Bills. Head coach Rex Ryan picked up Enemkpali believing that Enemkpali would be a solid addition to the Bills roster or maybe as a way to stick it to his former team. In his time with the Bills, Enemkpali played in all of their preseason games and recorded 11 tackles.
At the age of 24, Enemkpali has only one year of NFL experience under his belt which could either be really good or really bad for him. On the good side it would give teams a chance to mold him if need be or he could make a practice squad. There are certainly going to be some teams that will be interested in Enemkpali, but there are more than a few drawbacks for him.
His lack of experience is one of his biggest drawbacks, especially if they’re looking for someone to start and be able to make an impact right away. He also only has three tackles in his first year in the league with zero sacks and zero fumbles. However, the biggest drawback to picking him up would be his off the field issues and his questionable character. Before Enemkpali was drafted, he was arrested at age 19 and of course, punching Geno Smith hasn’t helped at all. Also apparently, Enemkpali punched a man who he thought was a woman in a weird story that ESPN reported on. Even if Enemkpali had only punched Smith, though, it would still be a really big red flag for any team.
There have been no reports on if anyone is interested in Enemkpali or if he has met with any teams. It looks like Enemkpali may have punched his last quarterback and his last chance at playing in the NFL.
[…] However, the incident does not see to have caused Smith to harbor any ill feelings against IK Enemkpali and is ready to put the incident behind him. Not that anyone can really blame Smith for it, but […]
