Very unfortunate news about one of baseball’s rising stars. Twenty-two year old outfielder Oscar Taveras was killed tonight in a car accident along with his girlfriend Edilia Arvelo. Not much is known about the situation, however, Taveras’ agent, Dionisio Soldevila confirmed the tragic news today on his Twitter account. Taveras was driving in Puerto Plata in his native country, Dominican Republic.
Taveras was an exceptional talent; even drawing comparisons from Cardinals officials to Albert Pujols. He hit a home run in his second at-bat in the major leagues. He was expected to be the next face of the franchise in St. Louis. Unfortunately, he was taken from us far too soon. RIP Oscar and his girlfriend Edilia.
