It has been a forgettable season so far for the New York Knicks, but for Carmelo Anthony it has given him a moment history. In tonight’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats, Anthony dropped 62 points, a new record for Madison Square Garden. The previous record was 61 points held by Kobe Bryant.
From start to finish it looked like it was Melo’s night. After the first quarter, he had 20 points and at halftime he had 37 points, including a half court shot to end the first half. Despite blowing out their competition, head coach Mike Woodson left his star in the game, only taking him out when he eclipsed Bryant’s record. Anthony gave Knicks fans something to finally cheer about after an abysmal first half to the season.
