It is the most celebrated rivalry in sports, but this time it will be played with heavy hearts. Dr. Jerry Buss, the Lakers longtime owner, passed away just days ago and it has just started to sink in for the NBA world. However, basketball games are still scheduled and they still have a game tonight. Last time these two teams met in Boston, the Lakers just looked awful. Dwight Howard looked lost and Kobe Bryant looked fed up.
Things have not changed much. The Celtics have lost many players to injuries this year, including superstar point guard Rajon Rondo, but have made it work for them. They are playing better than they have all year.
As much as I would like to say that the Lakers will win this one for Dr. Buss, I know that is just not the case. This Laker team is so dysfunctional they are better off just lying down the rest of the season. Dwight Howard doesn’t want to be on the team. Kobe Bryant doesn’t want Howard on the team and these two just can’t work together. Maybe the Lakers will play for Jerry Buss and pull an imaginable win off tonight!
