Atlanta Hawks player Chandler Parsons was involved in a serious automobile accident that has put the remainder of his career in jeopardy. He was recently placed in the NBA’s concussion protocol due to injuries suffered by a drunk driver.
Parsons was involved in a three car collision at around 2:00PM when he was leaving practice in Atlanta. The crash took place at a busy intersection. The driver responsible was charged with DUI. The driver admitted to drinking and passing out at the time of the crash.
His legal team, Morgan & Morgan said Parsons suffered several injuries including “a traumatic brain injury, disc herniation and a torn labrum”. He was also diagnosed with a concussion and whiplash. His lawyers continued saying he is currently working with a team of doctors to regain full health. At the time of the crash, he was in peak health.
On a team built around young superstar Trae Young, Parsons has seen his role vastly diminish. He has only played in five games this season. The Hawks drafted Cam Reddish who they are grooming for Parson’s role. After this unfortunate accident, it’s unclear if Parsons will ever be physically and/or mentally ready to step back on an NBA court.
We are all wishing Chandler Parsons a full and speedy recovery.
