In December 2017, New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider was out indefinitely after team doctors discovered a blood clot in his right arm that would need to be treated immediately. The 27-year-old Boston native was not fond of missing games because he craves being on the ice, but he knew he had to take care of his body. One year later, Kreider is back with a vengeance, and one that should take him to San Jose, California for the NHL All-Star game next month.

Kreider currently leads the Rangers in goals with nineteen, after scoring another two in Thursday night’s loss to Columbus and has scored five goals in his last five games. In his short, but successful six and a half year career with New York, Kreider has never made the mid-winter classic. All that could change this year since fans are given the opportunity to vote for their favorites, and Kreider is indeed worth a write-in spot.

In just thirty-six games so far this season, Kreider is making himself known with excellent front net presence. Proving to his teammates that they can trust him at any given point during a match. After Kreider’s blood clot scare last year, he knew he wanted to come back stronger and show just how healthy he was and that he was ready to help his team win.

While the Rangers have had their fair share of struggles so far in the 2018-19 campaign, Chris Kreider is showing no sign of slowing down. He pushes himself to surpass any expectation he sets for himself, he wants to win every game, and he wants to better each of his past successes. Chris Kreider is worthy of being elected to represent the Rangers in San Jose next month. It’s time this underrated player got some superstar treatment!
