The Clippers just can’t be great can they? Forward Blake Griffin, who ihas been on the bench with a quad injury since Christmas, will likely be out much longer than expected. Griffin underwent surgery on his right hand this morning after allegedly punching a member of the Clippers equipment staff.
The incident occurred after the team’s loss to the Toronto Raptors, a game they lost 112-94 at a nearby restaurant. Griffin was out with the staff member, Matias Testi, when he allegedly struck him in the face. Testi then went outside of the restaurant when Griffin followed him and hit him repeatedly.
The team announced Griffin will miss four to six weeks with the hand injury. The team released a statement condemning him for his actions, saying “His conduct has no place in our organization and this incident does not represent who we are as a team.” The team also said the incident is under investigation by both the team and the league. Toronto police, however, will not open an investigation.
