After another day of playoff football, two more teams were sent packing.  With four teams eliminated, the playoffs are now in full swing and every team has a chance at claiming the Lombardi trophy.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Another season, another year the Bengals make it to the playoffs and fail to win a game.  It is impossible to have any confidence in this team as they continue to stumble in crunch time.  The team was without many of its top players, but looked completely overmatched by Indianapolis.  Andy Dalton was only able to put up 144 passing yards against the Colts defense compared to the 368 yards Andrew Luck put up.

Dalton did not throw a touchdown pass and left the Bengals with many more questions than answers this offseason.  They just signed him to a massive contract, but is he the guy who can lead him to a deep playoff run?  Based off his time in the playoffs, the answer is a clear no.  He has struggled in those situations while Andrew Luck has remained poised and delivered for his team. Luck committed zero turnovers and made the big plays when needed, including an amazing touchdown pass while he was about to be sacked.  The Colts head to Denver next where they will face Peyton Manning and the Broncos.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions

It is always controversial when the Cowboys are involved.  After getting dominated in the first half, Tony Romo and the Cowboys mounted a comeback that hinged on a very controversial decision by the referees.  During a Lions drive in the second, Pete Morelli called a defensive pass inter fence penalty, but inexplicably picked it up forcing Detroit to punt the ball.

The Lions got off to a hot start taking a two touchdown lead, but as we have seen countless times they could not close out the game.  Matthew Stafford’s first throw in the second half was intercepted and it was just down hill from there.  The team only put up three points in the second half, compared to the 17 points they gave up. The Cowboys move on to Green Bay to face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
