Anyone in Dallas knows that Cowboys wide-receiver Dez Bryant was the shining star of last season’s squad. However, as a free agent come March, the Cowboys are doing everything they can to try and keep Bryant in the Lone Star State.
Brief talks between the Cowboys and Bryant’s agent have lead to the Cowboys consideration of a franchise tag for Bryant. While most players would rather have a long-term, higher salary deal, the franchise tag allows for guaranteed money coming their way.
The NFL salary cap has yet to be decided for the 2015 season, but the tag for wide-receivers is expected to be around $13 million. This hefty price tag leaves little room for other Cowboys standouts such as DeMarco Murray and Tony Romo.
I wish They felt the same way but it's cool.. It's #business RT @FrankyGonzalez3: I love how dedicated @DezBryant is to the @dallascowboys

If the Cowboys do end up tagging Bryant, “it just shows how much [they’re] committed to him,” claims executive vice-president Steven Jones. There’s no questioning the Cowboys interest in Dez. Whether they tag him or not, the Cowboys will “probably wait ‘til the midnight hour to make that decision.”
