The Washington Redskins have been out of the playoffs for weeks and now they have the opportunity to knock division rival the Dallas Cowboys out as well. Coming off an embarrassing loss against the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys know they need to do better. It is not just on Tony Romo to play better, but that defense that has been historically bad really needs to step up. Today, they play their third backup quarterback in as many weeks.
They are 0-2 against Josh McCown and Matt Flynn and now face Kirk Cousins. After a major falling out between Mike Shanahan and Robert Griffin III, Cousins was given the green light to start the remaining games for Washington. Cousins beat the Falcons last week, a team who also has a struggling defense so it is possible that he could have a big day. Washington did have SEVEN turnovers in the game, something they cannot do against the Cowboys. For as bad as their defense has been, their offense is having a good year. DeMarco Murray has been running efficiently averaging 5.5 yards per carry and when Romo is not forcing throws that turn into interceptions, he has had a great year.
As if the Dallas defense needed any more bad news, they will be without Sean Lee, Morris Claiborne, and Ernie Sims for this game. As bad as that may seem, the Cowboys always beat teams with losing records and if they want to get in the playoffs, they will come out of D.C. with a win. The Redskins are an even bigger mess than the Cowboys. As a side note, this will likely be linebacker London Fletcher’s final home game. Cowboys vs. Redskins- who you takin?
