We are all still trying to understand the tragedy that occurred on Friday in Newtown, CT. Our hearts are still broken as we try to understand what could drive a person to murder innocent people and children. Many of us are trying to find a way in which we can lend a hand to those affected by the tragedy.
All of the sports being played will honor the victims. Some will have a moment of silence and others will wear S.H.E.S. on their helmets. Giants’ wide receiver Victor Cruz has taken it one step closer. Jack Pinto was one of the children murdered on Friday. He was a huge Giants fan, especially of the receiver. His parents were even planning on buying Jack his very own #80 jersey. Cruz got wind of this tragic story and called the parents personally. After being personally affected as a parent himself, he decided to honor Jack. In Jack’s honor Cruz will be wearing “Jack Pinto ‘my hero'” on his shoe and “This one if 4 u” on his gloves. It is a small way to bring the family some happiness in the wake of such devastation. We all hope to see some salsa in Jack’s honor today.
