Sad news for former MLB pitcher and ESPN analyst Curt Schilling who just came out and said that he as diagnosed with cancer. In a statement released, Schilling said, “We’ve been presented with another challenge, as I’ve recently been diagnosed with cancer.”
The six time MLB All-Star did not go into detail about what type of cancer he is battling, but he seems prepared to fight the biggest battle he has ever faced. It is unclear if he will continue his work on ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” broadcast this season. Schilling suffered a heart attack in 2011 and had heart surgery to put a stent in one of his arteries.
His wife Shonda battled stage 2 malignant melanoma in 2001 so he knows the fight that is ahead of him. “Shonda and I want to send a sincere thank you and our appreciation to those who have called and sent prayers, and we ask that if you are so inclined, to keep the Schilling family in your prayers,” he continued in his statement. We are all hoping you can beat this and be on our televisions again this season!
