With Dez Bryant out for at least a month, the Cowboys were missing some serious depth at wide receiver. Dallas wasted no time in trying to find an appropriate stand-in for Bryant and it looks like they found a pretty good candidate. The Cowboys traded with the Raiders for Brice Butler and the Raiders will be getting a draft pick in exchange. Butler tweeted his excitement about joining “America’s team”.
Now it's time to play for Americas team! #CowboysNation I'm coming!!!

Certainly, Butler will be trying to fill some big shoes but the Cowboys believe that they have at least tried to solve that extreme hit to their depth. While he does not have as much experience as Dez, Butler will be a great back-up to an already pretty good group of wide receivers. With Dez out, the chart will start with Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley, possibly with Butler mixed in there somewhere. Physically, Bryant and Butler are very similar, but Butler’s lack of experience is what is really going to make him an outcast in the stellar offense that Dallas has constructed.
Butler was about to start his third season in the NFL with the Raiders. In his career, he has 30 receptions, 383 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. While Bryant usually makes an immediate impact on the field, Butler is less responsive and takes a little bit of momentum before he actually gets going which could be good for the Cowboys. That type of receiver would certainly fit in with this offense, but it seems like right now, Butler is going to be an insurance policy of sorts for the Cowboys.
However, Dez Bryant is never too far away from the Cowboys. After his surgery, Bryant tweeted,
I will keep the all Dallas Cowboys fans updated so don't listen to all the craziness…. Surgery went great….. I can't wait to get back

This is certainly going to make Cowboys fans happy and excited to see how their superstar is doing.
