The New York Jets were a disaster all season. The regression from quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick kept the Jets offense from ever taking off and the lost step by cornerback Darrelle Revis did not help. Unfortunately, Revis has found himself in a lot more trouble than getting burnt by wide receivers.
Revis will be appearing in court this upcoming week in Pittsburgh after allegedly getting into an altercation with two men. The New York Jets cornerback is facing four felony charges including two counts of aggravated assault, robbery, and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and one misdemeanor charge of making terroristic threats. Revis’ attorney Blaine Jones said that his client was allegedly in fear for his life about the incident that went down on Sunday at two in the morning.
Everything started allegedly when a man approached Revis and started recording him. Not being much of a fan of being recording, Revis tried to grab the phone and delete the video recording. That is when another man jumped in to “help” the fan. Allegedly, both men were left knocked out, but were able to speak to authorities after regaining consciousness. Jones said that his client was attacked by up to five men, including the two that were knocked out. Revis turned himself in last night to the Pittsburgh Municipal Court. He was released on a non-monetary bond.
The Jets admit they are aware of the situation, but have not yet made a decision about their aging cornerback. It is clear he is not the same player he once was and he is owed $15 million this season. This could be an opportunity to part ways with Revis as the Jets try to rebound for an embarrassing season. The NFL is looking into the situation to determine if there should be any discipline from the league.
