Today was a busy and eventful day in soccer history. There were 4 games as Groups C and D made their debuts. Colombia and Greece from Group C were the first teams to face off.

The Colombia team was missing its star player, Radamel Falcao, but was able to persevere nonetheless. By gaining the lead early and never letting up, Colombia dominated Greece with a final score of 3-0. Colombian coach Jose Pekerman was proud of his teams performance and said:

“I’m really happy, because we faced a hard rival and we’re very happy with both the result and the victory … We are capable of generating chances and scoring goals. Every one of our players fulfilled their role in the team,” via Carl Worswick.

The second game was Uruguay vs. Costa Rica for Group D. Costa Rica surprised everybody with its impressive win over Uruguay, resulting in a score of 1-3.
