Ever since the story broke about Oscar “Blade Runner” Pistorius allegedly shooting his girlfriend, it has taken so many twists and turns. His side of the story is that he thought his girlfriend was a robber and shot her mistakenly because the lights were off and he was not wearing his prosthetic legs.
The prosecution is gathering evidence for their own version of events. A witness for the prosecution claims to have allegedly heard a gun shot then a female screaming in pain, then more gun shots. He also said that the lights were on the entire time. If the lights were on, that means Pistorius saw his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp and knew he was shooting her. Another witness claims that they had arguing right before the gun shots between Pistorius and Steenkamp. Pistorius denies the arguing. Another piece of evidence that could blow the self defense idea out of the water is that the shots were reportedly fired a downward angle. This would go against the claim that Pistorius was startled and did not put his prosthetic legs on and just shot in the direction of his bathroom (where he allegedly heard a noise).
The newest development is that police have found testosterone and needles inside his home. During today’s hearing, prosecutors look to take shots at Pistorius’ personal life. Detective Hilton Brotha recalled an incident in which Pistorius accidentally shot a loaded gun and made someone else take the blame. Pistorius was also involved in an incident with another woman in 2009 in which she accused him of threatening violence on her, but the case was ultimately dropped.
Barry Roux, Pistorius’ defense attorney, is stating that the ‘testosterone’ found is not a banned substance and instead is an herbal substance. He is accusing the police of trying to use every piece of evidence to paint a negative portrait of his client. This story is just getting started and hopefully this beautiful girl will get some justice.
