It’s been a tough year for Lonzo Ball. He is currently sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a lingering ankle injury with the Lakers missing the playoffs once again. Now he is cutting ties with Big Baller Brand co-founder Alan Foster. Lonzo’s father LaVar Ball has credited Foster with inspiring him to create BBB, Big Baller Brand.
BBB officially opened in 2017 with the website selling Lonzo’s first signature shoes “ZO2s” for $495, something that was considered OUTRAGEOUS when compared with other players’ signature shoes with Nike and Adidas.
After finding out that $1.5 million was missing from his missing while doing the brand’s taxes, Lonzo made the decision to part ways with Foster. He released the following statement announcing the decision.
“[Foster] used his access to my business and personal finances to enrich himself. As a result, I have decided to sever all ties with Alan, effective immediately.”
Foster has been in Lonzo’s life since he was in seventh grade. So despite his criminal activity in the past, it’s no surprise the family put their trust in him. Foster has yet to comment on the situation.
Lonzo’s personal manager and close friend Darren “DMo” Moore posted himself throwing away a pair of BBB signature shoes and encourages his 272 thousand plus Instagram followers to do the same with their pair. I find it hard to believe anyone that spent $495 on a pair of shoes that they would throw them away just because a stranger told them to do it.
As a final nail in the coffin to Big Baller Brand, TMZ Sports noticed Lonzo has covered up his BBB tattoo on his right forearm. The “BBB” tattoo was transformed into dice. TMZ is also reporting that all three brothers are estranged from this father.
Both Lonzo and his younger brother LaMelo have completely wiped any trace of Big Baller Brand from their social media pages. No matter how you feel about the Ball family, this is sad. A family has been ripped apart because of bad business.
