The Dodgers said they wanted their man and they got him. Los Angeles has locked up their ace, Clayton Kershaw, for the next seven years. Kershaw has won the Cy Young award twice in the past two years and is now the highest paid pitcher in the league.
He will receive $215 million over those seven years. Previously, Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander was the highest paid pitcher after landing a seven year deal with the Tigers worth $180 million. Reportedly, the Dodgers were willing to give their pitcher up to $300 million. He has an out clause after the fifth year of his contract.
