Its rivalry week, and this is the biggest one in the country. Duke and UNC have had a long history against one another, and it has made for some of thebest games in college basketball history. This year, Duke is considered a favorite to win the Championship, while UNC has had an off year by their standards. UNC did lose four of its starters at the end of last season.
Neither team stands atop the ACC for the first time in a very long time after both teams suffered embarrassing losses to Miami. However, Duke is still ranked number 2 in the nation with Miami right behind them at number 3. UNC failed to be ranked in the Top 25 for another week. They were ranked in the top 10 back in November. UNC does have a very good player in James Michael McAdoo who leads the team in points, rebounds, and steals.
Duke is undefeated at home, but their last home loss came against UNC in last year’s season finale. UNC will have a tough time dealing with Seth Curry, Golden State’s Stephen Curry’s younger brother, who can shoot the ball incredibly well from outside the arc. UNC gave up 15 3-pointers to Miami setting a Miami school record.
Regardless of where they rank, both these teams always come out for this game. This is the game the players, the coaches, and most importantly the fans look forward to. I am a Duke fan so I will supporting the Blue Devils all the way. However, I have seen UNC ruin Duke’s season before and I always think they are one of their toughest opponents.
