Last week, allegations against Patrick Kane came out and it looks like everything else is starting to fall apart around him. Even though Kane had his time with the Stanley Cup, he didn’t party or go out in public with it and the misfortunate continues for Kane.
September 15th is set to be the release date of NHL’16 and the cover was supposed to feature Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, but now it looks like Toews will be featured on the cover solo. Amidst the alleged incident involving Patrick Kane, EA Sports has decided to remove Kane from the cover. Even though Kane is no longer on the cover, it looks like the game will still be released on September 15th regardless.
EA Sports has released a statement on their decision to remove Kane from the cover, “In light of the ongoing investigation involving Patrick Kane, he will no longer be a spokesperson for the launch of EA Sports NHL 16.” and it was followed up by “He will not appear on the EA Sports NHL 16 cover nor participate in other EA Sports NHL 16 promotional activities.” That was supposed to be the first time that two players would be featured on an EA Sports NHL game.
Since their announcement, EA Sports has taken to their twitter to share what the cover will look like with just Toews on it. EA Sports has been the first of Kane’s endorsers to take action in light on the recent investigation, but Bauer and McDonalds have given similar responses, basically saying that they are aware of the investigation. It is unclear how much longer the investigation into Kane will go on.
