This could be a huge game for both teams. The Eagles do not necessarily need to win this game, but after a disappointing loss against the Vikings, they need to win this game for morale. Whether or not Philadelphia wins this game is irrelevant because the Cowboys won meaning the division title will be decided next week. The Bears, however, are in a three team race with the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers for the NFC North title.
Chicago welcomes back starting quarterback Jay Cutler who got off to a rough start, but the Bears managed to win the game. Josh McCown had a very impressive stretch in his absence, but the Bears made it clear that Cutler was the starter. Chicago does have the ability to control their own destiny. If both the Packers and Lions lose today, they will automatically be in the playoffs. The Bears get a familiar face back as well. Middle linebacker Lance Briggs is active today and could be a huge boost to the Bears defense that has been suspect all season.
It seems like this game will not be as meaningful as once thought, but neither team plans to rest their starters. The Eagles need to bounce back after last week’s surprising loss and Chicago just needs to get readjusted with some of their starters coming back. The depleted Chicago defense will have their hands full containing the NFL’s leading rusher, LeSean McCoy. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact Briggs has tonight. Eagles vs. Bears- who you takin?
